Wedding venues along coastal belt!
June 13, 2012
PANJIM: The Goa Tourism Development Corporation Limited is exploring the possibility of developing its vacant properties along the coastal belt as wedding venues to generate revenue.
Speaking to Herald Chairman of GTDC Nilesh Cabral said the Corporation had vast areas of land in Anjuna, Miramar, Vagator and other places which have been unutilised for many years.
“We could use these properties as revenue generating avenues as the Corporation is not
very cash rich”, he explained.
It is proposed to invite expressions of interests from people who would want to develop these properties and later offer the same as venues for weddings.
Cabral said that many of the properties are in Non Development Zones and whatever development will be done, will be within the ambit of the rules and norms.
Arguing that if five star and four star hotels by the beach side could use their areas as wedding venues, the Corporation could also venture into this business.
