MARGAO: They hail from all corners of the state. And have been running from pillar to post to ensure the Parrikar-led government does not leave them in the lurch, but honour the appointment letters issued by the previous government in the department of mines as supervisors.
And, since the government has neither rejected
nor accepted their pleas for appointment, they are now hoping against hope that their pleas would find favour with the dispensation.
Monday saw a group of youngsters descending at the residence of Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai to use his good offices with Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar for their appointment in the mines department.
Ashok Harijan told newsmen that the 230 youngsters are a worried lot since the present government has till date not given them the appointment. “Sardessai had in the past supported the youth. We have come to him with hopes that our grievances would be resolved”, he said.
After giving a patient hearing, the Fatorda MLA said the government should not throw out these youth on technical grounds when the previous government wanted to recruit them to check illegal mining.
“I strongly feel the government should sympathetically consider the requests of these youth as they are all Goans. I will take up their cause with the Chief Minister and will raise the issue in the coming Assembly session”, Vijay said.
Saying that the previous government had absorbed the PETS trainees recruited by the BJP government, Sardessai hoped the government is not trying to push party cadre by ignoring the claims of these youth.
