10 booked for cheating at Sanguem

SANGUEM: Sanguem Police have registered a case against 10 persons for allegedly cheating a family from Uttarakannada to the tune of Rs 9 crore.
According to Sanguem Police, Parmeshwar Sawarkar of Uttarakannada and others complained that the 10 accused persons prior to August 26, 2008, in whose favour the cheques were issued as per bank statement, allegedly prepared his forged death certificate and his family members with an intention to commit fraud.
The complainant further
stated that the accused committed forgery of succession deed and fraudulently used it as genuine and dishonestly induced him and his family to deliver their property by registering sale deed of the property before the Sub Registrar’s office at Sanguem.
The accused opened bank account and obtained blank cheques signed by the complainant and other family members and dishonestly encashed it and withdrew cash from their bank account and misappropriated and cheated the complainant and his family members to the tune of Rs 9 crore, stated the complainant. Sanguem Police Inspector D Gad is investigating the case.
