PANJIM, JUNE 3 – Da Cruz Mala defeated Odxel Sports Club, Taleigao in a five-set thriller 19-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-22 and 15-18 to claim the 5th All Goa Floodlit Volleyball tournament, organised by Hanuman Club, Mala at Massano de Amorim ground, Panjim.
Dr Susana de Souza, Director, Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs was the chief guest.
The winners were awarded the rolling trophy and a cash prize of Rs 8,000, in addition to the take-away trophy and a jersey set while the runners-up took home a trophy, Rs 6,000 and a set of jerseys. Other prizes awarded were: Player of the Tournament – Yeshwant Khandeparkar (Da Cruz Mala), Best Disciplined Team – King of Mala, Panjim. Ex-mayor Ashok Naik was the guest of honour.
Menino Da Cruz, councillor; Vaibhav Chinchinkar, Incharge, Yes Bank’, Mahadev Khandekar, Tarun Bharat reporter, Suhas Nirlikar, ex-volleyball player of Mala; Shanker Naik and Sandesh Naik were special invitees.
Earlier, President of the Hanuman Sports Club Suraj Kande welcomed the guests and Rajan Bhingui Talaulikar compered.
Ramesh Lotlikar, NIS coach, Nani Diukar and Dilip Diukar were the officials.
