Sesa coach, Clifford Chukwuma fielded Mauvin Borges and Yogesh Kadam upfront which worked out well as Yogesh put his team in the lead in the second minute. George D’ Souza’s well-measured free-kick sailed over the Sporting Clube defenders and found Yogesh, who powerfully headed in past helpless Sporting Clube goalkeeper Agnelo Gomes.
Sporting fielded a strong team with two foreigners, Spaniard centre-back Angel Berlanga and Japanese striker Seiya Sugishita with Nigerian Ogba Kalu replacing Velito Cruz before half time but The Flaming Oranje struggled to settle down.
Seiya was guilty of missing two golden opportunities in front of an open goal. First, he shot wide in the ninth minute and then, headed wide a dangerous free-kick from Velito at the half hour mark.
After resumption, Sesa continued attackingly and doubled their lead in the 49th minute after substitute Charles Miranda won the ball from Kalu and unleashed a top of the box screamer that hit the upright and entered the goal beating goalkeeper Agnelo hands down.
Coach Oscar Bruzon realized his team lacked sharpness upfront, so he brought in Dawson Fernandes and Spaniard Juan Pena. However, Sesa scored their third in the 65th minute after Marcus Fernandes sent an intelligent through ball to Mauvin, whose rasping shot was blocked by the rival but fell in the path of Charles, who coolly slotted home in the open goal for his brace.
Sporting Clube worked hard to get back into the game and scored two quick goals through Kalu and Pena in the 68th and 70th minutes respectively. Subsequently, the Flaming Oranje levelled the scores in the 80th minute after Dawson headed in past Sesa goalkeeper Thockchom Singh off a Kalu assist.
In the injury time, Pena sent in a floater to Pratesh, who broke the off-side trap and scored with an adroit placement for the match-winner.
