The bold statement of Calangute MLA Michael Lobo that Shri Ram Sena and its chief Pramod Muthalik should be banned from entering Goa is praise worthy especially when his own party Government do not want to do so and made statements in the Legislative Assembly to this effect. Lobo is also reported to have said to another daily, “As the MLA representing Calangute which is the tourism hotspot of Goa, let me say that he will be thrown out if he dares to come to Calangute and hold any protest here”. Also hats off to your strong worded editorial of today (18th July). Your esteemed newspaper has always fought for Goa and Goans and each of your editorials is in conformity with the said patriotic policy.
Shri Ram Sena and other such organizations who demand that India should be declared a Hindu Nation and organize un-constitutional activities disturbing peace and harmony of other people certainly do not deserve protection of the Constitutional Rights for doing so. To follow the policy of Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose today is not at all justified as we are no longer under colonial rule but our own, free to make our choice of religion, culture and other such personal matters provided we do not create any violence and disturbed others. The presence of Shri Ram Sena in the State will not only pose threats to the bars and dance clubs but also to the wedding receptions of the Catholic community due to western dancing and alcoholic drinks.
The other two like minded organizations viz. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Sanatan Sanstha of which Margao bomb blasts accused are found to be members, are also involved in regular communal hate campaign through print media etc. The previous Congress alliance government not only turned Nelson’s eye towards it but included the MLA associated with the organisations along with his family, in the Cabinet and the present Government also continues to do so. Though their recent Hindu Convention did not get response from Goans, It is high time that these organizations are warned and their hate propaganda is stopped immediately.
