We are all well aware about the shenanigans occurring in the UPA - II government wherein the Prime Minister is viewed by his detractors as impotent and a non-achiever which belies his earlier credentials as being an economist and down-right reformer. In the present context, he has done nothing to prove otherwise and with each passing day ,the “docile Sardar” sticks to his time tested adherences, which does not augur well with the electorate. The electorate is vehement to see the changes as promised.
It can be seen from his own allies the NCP, the DMK, and the Trinamool Congress ,with feisty and the never satisfied Mamta Banerjee, are seething to see the downfall of the Government .The matter can be prejudiced because repercussions from the electorate angle will be painful and heart-wrenching to their kitty.
Sharad Pawar of the NCP had sent a salvo to the UPA Government to accommodate him in the decision making process, which was conveniently ignored by the UPA High Command. However , by force of circumstances, the UPA dignitaries gave him a soft sops to calm him down. The NCP is in shambles with corruption taking the center stage besides other modes of chicanery. The NCP is losing their strong bastions as time goes by. The dilemma for the UPA Government does not end when the appeasement is in progress. The States that the Congress govern in are not doing too well. There is discontent brewing and the party seems least inclined to clear up the mess.
Unfortunately, nothing much can be expressed about the BJP , as the party is immersed in its own imbroglio. Just look at what is happening in Karnataka. All in all, I can safely state that with the matters engulfing people like Mulayam Singh Yadav reviving nostalgic feelings for Mayawati, India is in abject demeanor. To worsen matters “Team Anna” is throwing its hat in the ring to form a political alternative which I presume there will be more ill-will arising from that coalition to worsen the problems dampening the morale and spirit of the Indians.
If the Indians are besotted with the ill-happenings around the country, let us analyse the controversies occurring in our tiny State of Goa where verbosity is paradigm of virtues as opinionated by our MLA Vishnu Surya Wagh when he raised a hue and cry against the “Lusofonia Games” to be held in Goa next year. Manohar Parrikar uttered in the State Assembly that the Games will be held as per the schedule with improved infrastructure to please the constituents who are members of former Portuguese Colonies. Wagh instead of roaring against the statement mewed in acceptance after the Government became firm in its commitments.
The goal of Lusofonia is to enhance the old familiar ties with the Portuguese speaking countries and to some extent to Sri Lanka too. The same concept as formulated by Commonwealth countries. For the initiated,Associacao de Comites Olimpicos de Lingua (Oficial) Portuguesa(ACOLP) commenced in June 2004 while in April 2006 the Goa Olympics Association was admitted into its fold along with Sri Lanka. Their aim is common historical background with Portugal- to push for posterity- although many people in the contemporary generation do not understand the past history of Goa and they still feel that India is supreme in every sense, not realising that India with its 1.2 billion people is in sorry quandary with extremely few medals at the latest concluded Olympics.
