Mukherjee is right choice

The candidate for Presidentship needs to be a person of sharp acumen , intellect and also should be knowledgable of the  Constitutional norms. He should be honest and enjoy wide popularity, cutting across political spectrum. And Pranab Mukherjee fully fits the bill. Also, it is a matter of great relief that the anti-Congress parties like the  CPM and even some NDA-affiliated parties like the  Janata Dal (United) and Shiv Sena have succeeded in according higher preference to the merit of  Mukherjee as the Presidential candidate.
 Though Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati are bitterly opposed to each other, it was pleasantly surprising to note that when the issue cropped up ,they did not hesitate to travel on the same boat. Despite objections to the candidature of Mukherjee,  the Trinamool Congress also lent its support, to keep the unity of the coalition at the Centre intact and also respect the Constitution ,by participating in the Presidential election.
That most political parties have indeed matured and have finally realised that national interest and dignity of Parliamentary democracy are much greater than filthy political bickerings, are indeed signs of good things to come. Right from stark poverty, exploitation of children, sexual atrocities on women to corruption and breakdown of law and order, India is plagued by scores of problems. It is hoped that by drawing inspiration from the spirit and positive attitude ,that has  been displayed prior to the Presidential poll, Parliamentarians will  concentrate in ensuring concrete debates revolving the interest of the nation instead of hurling abuses and missiles at each other.
