The fee on land proposed for conversion will be hiked. Finance Minister Dayanand Narvekar said the conversion rates of land under Goa Land Revenue Code were last amended seven to 8 years ago and needs to be rationalized. For personal housing in rural area, the fee of Rs 10 per sq mt for 500 sq mt and below will be retained and an additional Rs 10 per sq mt for every 500 sq mt is proposed. For constructions in coastal villages falling within 500 metres from High Tide Line (HTL), the government has proposed to increase the fee from the existing Rs 50 to Rs 75 and for beyond 500 metres from HTL, the fee of Rs 25 will be hiked to Rs 40 per sq mt. This will also be made applicable in municipal areas, he added.
